  •  Wing Ryan Griffiths announced as first Whites signing for 2018-19 campaign
  • Heads to Swansea following three seasons with Bridgend Ravens
  • Richard Lancaster: "Ryan has caught our eye over a number of games, having scored some pretty special tries against us in the past.

In the peak of the summer heatwave, after a pre-season workout on the sands at Merthyr Mawr, the Swansea RFC squad have re-established themselves to begin preparations for the integral 2018/19 season and welcome some new faces to the All Whites set up.

In anticipation of the new season, Swansea RFC is pleased to kick off the signings announcements with that of wing, Ryan Griffiths.

Originally a footballer with Brynna FC and Bridgend District but playing rugby throughout school, Griffiths joined Llanharan RFC at 18 to concentrate on rugby and his since established himself as a fast paced, skilful player.

Ryan has spent the past three seasons as a popular member of the Bridged Ravens squad, picking up 17 tries in 55 games.  On the 7s circuit, Ryan has also regularly played with the elite invitational side Wizard of Wales Sevens since their establishment three years ago, a team with a mix of talented players from across the Premiership and Championship, raising money and awareness for St David’s Hospice along the way.

On his move to St Helen’s, Ryan said, “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Bridgend Ravens but feel the time has come to move on to my next challenge. I’m looking forward to the fresh start and know Nick’s coaching style well from his time with the Ravens which I feel will help me settle in quickly. St Helen’s is a pitch that’s always mentioned as being one of the best around, so to now call it my home pitch is really exciting”

Director of Rugby Richard Lancaster commented, “Ryan has caught our eye over a number of games, having scored some pretty special tries against us in the past. He’s a hard-running finisher, capable of making things happen when he’s on the ball. Ryan’s looking forward to laying on the surface here at St Helen’s and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do in a Whites jersey.”

With plenty of announcements to come this Summer we will be treating you to one, if not two, pieces of news every week, which we hope will kick start your excitement ahead of the new campaign – a season in which we need all your support to keep The Whites in Premiership rugby!
