2017/18 Principality Premiership Fixtures

By Hannah Willis | 28/06/2017

The WRU have today announced the 2017/18 Principality Premiership fixtures, which will see the season kicking off on Saturday 26th August away to Neath RFC.

Following last seasons tier 1 and tier 2 set-up, the league will again restructure this season and take on the format of an East/West split. During the first half of the season, the 8 clubs in the East will play each other home and away, and the 8 clubs in the West play a home and away fixture against each other. The league will then come together for the second half of the season with all league teams playing each other once either home or away. Points from the first half of the season will not be carried over, however, each of the East/West teams will be awarded points depending on where they finish in their table (8 points for 1st, 1 point for 8th), and these are the points which will be used to create the league table at the start of the second half of the season. There will be no Fosters Cup competition, and no league games will be played on B&I Cup match weekends. Fixtures in the West split will finish on the 23rd Dec, and the full league will commence on 31st Dec. Matches will also be played on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Swansea RFC will meet Neath RFC, Bridgend Ravens, Carmarthen Quins, Aberavon RFC, RGC 1404, Llandovery RFC and Llanelli RFC in the West split of the league.
