Swansea RFC's friendly match at St Helen's on Saturday was a FREE ENTRY game with the aim of raising money toward two great causes. Supporters responded superbly to the appeal for donations at the gate and the HELP FOR HEROES charity was appropriately chosen by the British Army to receive half the gate money from a hugely entertaining match.
Swansea's Chosen Charity for 2016-17 is to raise money for the NEO-NATAL UNIT at Singleton Hospital in the City. Half the proceeds raised went to that great cause and further events this season will go toward making a significant gift to the fund.
A poignant reminder of the recent loss of young Ellie Norkett, was observed with a superbly respected minute silence before the match commenced.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone on the day £850 was raised and will be divided between the two charities. Swansea RFC and the British Army are very grateful to all who attended and contributed and also enjoyed a cracking game where a 7 - 7 half time score ended as a 22 - 7 win to the British Army side. It was a no holds barred encounter with a great atmosphere afterwards as the England v Scotland match was shown and it is hoped the British Army side will be able to offer a return match next year.
Supporters please note: The club have one pair of tickets left for France v Wales in Paris at £72 each. Any supporter who would like to purchase them, please contact the office on 01792 424242 or email@example.com
